After my readings from John C. Maxwell Developing the LEADER WITHIN YOU and The 48 LAWS OF POWER Written By: ROBERT GREENE The type of leader traits I perceive to have are Maxwell. When in comparison of two leaders Maxwell and Greene I have also notice that I incorporate some of Greene’s laws. When reading the beginning chapters in Maxwell where it speaks about what defines leadership, to me leadership is the overall influence you have over individuals you lead. Influence as in reference of Maxwell Chapter 1- ” It is not tenure it is maturity and determine what makes you a leader is measured by followers you obtain. “
How I look at this statement is when looking at social media site like: Instagram, which is based on the amount of followers and not always based on what you paid people to look at, you are considered a leader based on the quality of the images you protray through photography telling a story on your page, creates the influence to obtain followers and keep their interest.
Another Maxwell trait that I portray to have is my thoughts on people development. To me, what make a good leader isn’t only about how knowledgeable you are about leading, but through teamwork and success as a team is proof you can lead.
It helps to empower others. Maxwell states : ” Leaders are not great because of their power but their ability to empower others.” I have tried this trait in my pass managerial roles. I helped empower my assistant manager to work towards getting their own store and empowering to make their own decisions.
I also like to plan ahead ,delegate tasks as what is a priority others all traits that Maxwell possess. When referring to Greene’s Laws three of them that I incorporate are Law 9- Win Through Actions never Through Argument . Law 25 – Recreate Yourself and Law 33- Discover Each Man’s Thumbscrew.
” It is Much more powerful to get others to agree with you through your actions without saying a word.”- Greene-48 laws
Law 9 I practice this method because I believe everyone has a strength in different ways that they intake and retain information and for me Kinesthetically actions of movement are respected than selling a dream with your words which is not.
People say things they are going to do all the time but if action is not put to it, it’s only words. Referring toLaw 25- I like to Recreate myself all the time, that way people cannot get into a routine of things when referring to leadership capabilities.
Greene states ” The creation of memorable character one that compels attention and stands out from other players on the stage. Another law from Greene I can incorporate is Law 33 – When I learn others for the first time I look at their body language to learn where they are holding tension when referring to Massage Therapy.
When learning another man’s thumbscrew Greene talks about training your eye for detail. Initially I feel this is necessary when leading to become a more effective leader.
